چکیده

Abstract Understanding the ecological and toxicological relationship between genetically modified cultivars (GM) biological control agents is of great importance for discussions related to compatability GM integrated management strategies pest resistance. The present study evaluated search behavior predatory capacity Orius insidiosus (Say) (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) Doru luteipes (Scudder) (Dermaptera: Forficulidae) on eggs caterpillars Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) resistant or not protein Cry1F expressed in Bt corn. To determine time, a stopwatch was run until capture first prey, predation by counting prey remaining after 24 hours infestation. injuries S. conventional corn presence absence predators also evaluated. were able distinguish susceptible (eggs caterpillars), given behaviour observed. There no difference searching time either frugiperda. In predators, injury scores plants lower. It concluded that O. D. did notice frugiperda, which may facilitate combined use programs

Cry1F Resistance in Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda: Single Gene versus Pyramided Bt Maize

Evolution of insect resistance to transgenic crops containing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes is a serious threat to the sustainability of this technology. However, field resistance related to the reduced efficacy of Bt maize has not been documented in any lepidopteran pest in the mainland U.S. after 18 years of intensive Bt maize planting. Here we report compelling evidence of field resistan...

Adamczyk & Gore: Activity of Cry1Ac and Cry1F Against Armyworms 427 LABORATORY AND FIELD PERFORMANCE OF COTTON CONTAINING CRY1AC, CRY1F, AND BOTH CRY1AC AND CRY1F (WIDESTRIKE®) AGAINST BEET ARMYWORM AND FALL ARMYWORM LARVAE (LEPIDOPTERA: NOCTUIDAE)

The efficacy of transgenic cotton genotypes containing Cry1Ac, Cry1F, and Cry1Ac stacked with Cry1F (WideStrike®, Dow Agrosciences, Indianapolis, IN) were investigated during 2001-2003 against the beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua (Hübner) (=BAW), and the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (=FAW), in laboratory bioassays and small experimental field plots. In all experiments, cot...

Prospecting of popcorn hybrids for resistance to fall armyworm.

The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, is the pest that causes the greatest economic losses for both common corn and popcorn crops, and the use of resistant plant genotypes is an important tool for integrated pest management. The goal of the present study was to evaluate the damage caused by S. frugiperda on single-cross popcorn hybrids under field conditions with natural infestation as well...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
